Get to know Darren

Darren has been hooked by the pensions industry since heading up the pensions team at HM Treasury in 2007 , where he was involved in the design and implementation of the UK’s flagship auto-enrolment programme.
 
Not only the co-founder of Untamed Consulting, where he focuses on strategy, market engagement, and the PR and policy side, Darren also co-hosts the V-FM pensions podcast.
 
Darren’s background in the industry speaks for itself; founder of Shula PR and Policy, Director of Policy at Smart Pensions and previous policy roles at The People’s Pension, the National Association of Pension Funds (now Pensions UK), he is passionate about creating a simpler and more engaging industry that delivers better outcomes for its customers.
 
Darren is active within industry bodies and is a regular commentator in the media. He sits on the PMI policy and external affairs committee, and the PASA DC working group. Darren is also a governor and trustee of the independent Pensions Policy Institute.
 
Outside of work, Darren’s interests include football (both ‘soccer’ and American Football), cricket and listening to live music. He is even learning to play the piano! Darren has a BSc(Econ) in Economics from Leicester University and an MSc in Economics and Econometrics from Southampton University.
