Beyond the Bottom Line: Will pensions reform deliver better outcomes?
Bigger schemes… value for money… more support at retirement… more investment in the UK. But will it all add up to better outcomes for pension members?
That was the question at the heart of Beyond the Bottom Line, hosted by Untamed Consulting and Moore Squared Communications at Liverpool’s One O’Clock Gun.
With Daniela Silcock, Darren Philp, Jerry Butcher and Carl Emmerson, and Charlotte Moore steering the conversation, we chatted pretty candidly about some of the tensions behind the current wave of pensions reform.
Does bigger necessarily mean better? Could Value for Money make being different commercially risky? Are we designing better pension pots or better retirements?
Drawing on research involving organisations representing more than 22 million pension members and £220 billion of assets, the discussion looked beyond individual reforms to consider their combined impact.
A huge thank you to our panellists and everyone who joined us for a lively, thought-provoking discussion.
The question we’re left with: how will we know whether all this reform has actually worked?
